Landslides in Odisha disrupt East Coast Railway services

Heavy rainfall and landslides in the Rayagada Division of Odisha have severely disrupted rail traffic, leading the East Coast Railway (ECoR) to cancel several train services and alter existing routes. Landslides, soil slips, and waterlogging have been reported at multiple locations, including Maligura, Chhatariput, Rauli, Lilliguma, and the Keutguda–Sikarpai section.

To manage the disruption, ECoR has cancelled four specific services: the Kirandul-Visakhapatnam Passenger (58502/58501) and the Kirandul-Visakhapatnam Express (18516/18515). Other trains, such as the Howrah-Jagdalpur Express and the Rourkela-Jagdalpur Express, are being short-terminated or short-originated from Koraput.

Approximately 300 workers have been deployed to conduct restoration and safety works on a round-the-clock basis. To assist affected travelers, ECoR has arranged free bus services from Koraput toward Jagdalpur and Jeypore.
