Lang & Schwarz restructures amid profit growth as Schwarz Gruppe announces AI investment

Lang & Schwarz reported a significant increase in profit for the first half of 2026, with net profit rising to 48.4 million euros from 26.5 million euros in the previous year. Despite this growth, the financial services provider is undergoing an operational restructuring of its market-making business. This includes transitioning to its own settlement technology and separating from its long-term partner, Trade Republic. As a result of this restructuring, the company has announced an efficiency program that includes a workforce reduction of more than 10%.

Separately, the Schwarz Gruppe has announced plans to invest 11 billion euros in a specialized artificial intelligence data center in Lübbenau, Brandenburg. The facility is intended to cover 13 hectares and will house up to 100,000 GPUs to support complex AI computations. The project is expected to be operational by the end of 2027. While the facility will create approximately 60 direct jobs, local officials are focusing on the potential for tax revenue and the integration of server waste heat into the municipal district heating network.
