Vietnam reports tax evasion arrests and severe weather impacts

In Vietnam, authorities have arrested Lê Văn Phú and Lã Thúy Kiều for major tax evasion and accounting violations. The pair allegedly operated three companies selling cosmetics and functional foods, using fake invoices and personal accounts to hide over 107 billion VND in revenue from 2021 to 2025.

Severe weather and accidents have also impacted several regions. In Lạng Sơn, massive rockslides destroyed homes and damaged vehicles, leading to road closures on Highway 279. In Thanh Hoa, over 1,000 residents were evacuated from flood and landslide-prone areas as heavy rains caused road damage and isolated several communities.

Rescue operations were also reported in other areas: emergency services in Đồng Nai successfully rescued a 60-year-old individual trapped in a car cabin following a late-night accident, while rescuers in Gia Lai saved a man who fell into a well. Meanwhile, in Taipei, a 60-year-old temple building at the Zhinan Gong site was destroyed by a large fire, though no casualties were reported.
