Lang Son temple ticket and donation fraud nets nearly 8 billion dong

Police in Vietnam's Lang Son province have investigated corruption at several religious sites, including the Tam Thanh historic area, Ky Cung temple and Cong Dong Bac Le temple. Employees who managed ticket sales, parking fees and donation collections were accused of printing tickets at half the paid value, withholding cash, and recording only part of the revenue in official systems.

The scheme allowed the misappropriation of roughly 8 billion Vietnamese dong (about $340,000), with an initial hidden amount of around 200 million dong. On June 3, seven individuals were charged with embezzlement and abuse of office. The investigation revealed that the misconduct had been ongoing since late 2022, involving both ticket‑sale fraud and the diversion of donation money intended for temple upkeep.
