Langerbrugsestraat junction undergoes new traffic configuration
R4WO is implementing a new temporary traffic configuration at the Langerbrugsestraat junction starting the night of October 24 to 25. This change is part of a dual project involving the construction of a new on-and-off ramp complex and the completion of a bicycle tunnel under the Langerbrugsestraat.
By adjusting the work sequence, the project timeline has been accelerated, allowing works to begin earlier than the original 2027 schedule. The junction will temporarily function as a large oval roundabout with two loop closures at the ends of the work zone to maintain access from all directions.
For cyclists, the crossing point over the R4 remains in the same location but will now require pressing a button to request a green light, ensuring a conflict-free crossing without intersecting motorized traffic. Motorized traffic on the R4 will see minor shifts in lanes toward the Zelzate direction, though two lanes will remain available in both directions.
