Langeweg resident leads community energy initiative

Mart Scheepers, a resident of Langeweg, is working toward a dual goal: making his own home energy-neutral and ensuring all residents in his village can access low energy costs. Through the group ‘Nieuwe Energie Langeweg’, he is investigating the creation of a local energy group to combat rising inequality caused by national policies that favor individual measures and dynamic contracts.

The initiative aims to provide energy solutions for those unable to afford heat pumps or solar panels. Current plans include mapping local energy consumption and exploring the use of large lithium iron phosphate batteries to store energy for use during colder months.
