Langford RCMP investigates animal cruelty after viral video
The West Shore RCMP has launched an animal cruelty investigation in Langford following the viral spread of a social media video. The footage appears to show a man repeatedly hitting a cat between patio doors while attempting to move the animal into a laundry basket.
Officers visited a residence on October 5 to investigate reports of an injured cat. While the animal showed signs of emotional distress, investigators noted no obvious physical injuries at the time of the visit. The cat has since been placed in the custody of Capital Regional District (CRD) Animal Control for further examination.
The man featured in the video has reportedly been fully cooperative with police and has agreed to relinquish ownership of the cat. Authorities have issued a warning against “vigilante justice,” urging the public not to share personal information or addresses online, as doing so could compromise the investigation and create safety risks.
