The Langhe Monferrato Roero hills in Italy have been ranked as the second-best wine destination in Europe for 2027 by the non-profit organization European Best Destinations. The UNESCO World Heritage site received a total score of 18.8 out of 20, including a 9.7 out of 10 for the excellence of its wine-related experiences.
Out of over 90 evaluated destinations, the Langhe Monferrato Roero region was selected as one of the 12 finalists. Key factors contributing to this recognition include the Alba white truffle, Nebbiolo grape cultivation, and the region's autumnal landscapes. The selection process evaluated criteria such as heritage, authenticity, viticulture styles, tourism infrastructure, gastronomy, sustainability, and accessibility.
The top spot in the ranking was awarded to the Štajerska region in Slovenia.
