Langhirano to host Prosciutto di Parma Festival in September

The Prosciutto di Parma Festival is scheduled to take place in Langhirano from September 4 to 6. The event celebrates the protected designation of origin (DOP) ham through a series of meetings, tastings, and culinary demonstrations.

The official opening ceremony will be held on Friday, September 4, hosted by Francesca Romana Barberini, with guests including chef Andrea Mainardi and Olympic sprinter Fausto Desalu. The program includes the ‘Prosciutto di Parma Experience,’ which offers visitors tasting sessions featuring various aging stages and hand-cut varieties paired with local specialties.

A central feature of the festival is ‘Finestre Aperte’ (Open Windows), an initiative established in 1999. This program allows enthusiasts and tourists to enter production facilities to observe the processing stages and learn about the traditional methods directly from the producers.
