Langkat Regional Secretary questioned in Syah Afandin bribery case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has questioned Amril, the Regional Secretary of Langkat Regency, as a witness in a bribery investigation involving the inactive Regent, Syah Afandin. The examination took place at the KPK Merah Putih Building in Jakarta.

The case stems from a sting operation conducted in July 2026 across Langkat, Binjai, and Medan. Syah Afandin and his former campaign team member, Yaqub Abdhal Al Mu'arif, have been named suspects in a bribery scheme related to government projects for the 2025-2026 period.

Investigators allege that Yaqub secured 80 projects in the Education Office and five projects in the Housing and Settlement Office through bribery. Syah Afandin is suspected of receiving approximately Rp800 million from a total commitment fee of Rp1.117 billion. Additionally, the KPK is investigating allegations of gratifications totaling up to Rp3.5 billion involving official appointments and school procurement.
