Langley athletes win medals at Special Olympics Canada Summer Games
Three athletes from Langley achieved podium finishes at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games held in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Swimmer Jade Deakin earned a gold medal, two silver medals, and a bronze medal. Golfer Ryerson Shelvey secured a gold medal, while basketball player Jacob Fettes was part of the gold-medal-winning Team BC Wildcats.
These athletes were part of a four-person Langley contingent that included golf coach Hudson Shelvey. During the games, which took place from August 11 to 15, Team BC athletes collectively earned 101 gold, 123 silver, and 133 bronze medals. The Team BC delegation consisted of 243 athletes, 75 coaches, and 22 mission staff representing 42 communities across British Columbia.
