Langley, BC Fire Destroys Barn and Damages Historic Railway Bridge
A barn fire broke out on June 16 in the 3900 block of 232 Street in rural Langley, British Columbia, engulfing a large poultry barn. Langley Township Fire Department deployed about eight tanker trucks, and the RCMP closed sections of 232 Street and 40 Avenue. No injuries were reported and the extent of property damage was still being assessed.
A separate blaze on June 16 damaged the century‑old wooden railway bridge at 264 Street and 64 Avenue. The bridge, in service for more than 100 years, sustained "minimal" damage, according to Mayor Eric Woodward, and was reopened on June 19 after safety inspections. The cause of the fire remains undetermined, as stated by Assistant Fire Chief Scott Brewer. No injuries were reported in this incident either.
