Langley community initiatives support local seniors

Community initiatives in Langley are supporting local seniors through food-related events and fundraising.

In Aldergrove, the annual Grand Parade fundraising walk organized by Langley Meals on Wheels raised over $8,400. The event featured 68 walkers across 11 teams, helping to support the charity's mission of delivering balanced meals to seniors and those unable to cook for themselves. The organization relies on a core staff and approximately 375 volunteers to operate.

Additionally, two senior residences, Sunridge Gardens and Magnolia Gardens, will host drive-thru pie giveaways on October 9 to honor National Seniors Day. The first 75 seniors to arrive at each facility will receive a freshly baked pie prepared by residence chefs. Sunridge Gardens will offer 'Taste of Autumn' cheesecakes, while Magnolia Gardens will provide spicy pumpkin pie.
