Langley Hospice Society raises $99,000 at annual fundraiser

The Langley Hospice Society held its annual Plates and Glasses fundraiser on a summer evening at the Quiring Trucking and Gravel Sales farm in Aldergrove. The event welcomed 260 guests, including donors, volunteers and community members, and featured a multi‑course dinner, beverage pairings, live music, a potters’ marketplace and a silent auction.

Executive director Shannon Todd Booth said the evening generated more than $99,000 for the Society’s palliative, bereavement care and community programmes, including the Doug and Fran MacDonald Langley Hospice Residence and the Supportive Program Centre. Volunteer Sharon Wood highlighted the role of the hospice in helping people cope with grief, and attendees could bid on handmade pottery pieces created with the Fraser Valley Potters Guild. Caregiver Sandy Pelley shared how the hospice services supported her and her mother during the end‑of‑life process, describing the experience as “life‑changing.”
