Langley Hot Sauce Expo adds kids corn‑eating contest to festival

The second annual Tears of Joy Hot Sauce Expo in Langley will feature a new kids corn‑eating contest on Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Langley Riders Society grounds (4303 208 St.). Organized by Neal Sherriff, the competition is open to children 16 and younger, who must clean corn off the cob as quickly as possible. Prize packs will be assembled from donations and divided by age group.

The expo also includes the returning hot‑pepper eating contest, with Mike Jack Eats Heat traveling from Ontario to attempt a Guinness World Record. The Langley Food Bank will be on site to collect non‑perishable food and cash donations, offering thank‑you gifts such as spicy doughnuts and commemorative posters. Attendees can enjoy live music from the Muppet Boys and Chief State, browse more than 80 vendors offering hot sauces, artisanal foods, food trucks and crafts, and try additional activities like golf games, face painting and knife‑skill competitions.
