Langley Strong files complaint against Progress for Langley over election rule breaches

Langley Strong has lodged a formal complaint with the Township of Langley's Chief Election Officer, Bylaw Enforcement and Elections BC, alleging that the mayor‑led Progress for Langley slate repeatedly violated municipal election bylaws. The complaint cites the use of official township crests, logos and municipal project renderings on campaign signs and videos, filming inside council chambers and at active construction sites, and the installation of campaign boards weeks before the legally permitted start date of September 26.

The group is demanding equal enforcement of Bylaw No. 6118, removal or correction of non‑compliant material, and a written ruling on each alleged breach. The matter has also been referred to Elections BC under the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act. Progress for Langley mayor Eric Woodward dismissed the accusations as an election stunt, while Langley Strong campaign manager Derek Robson said, “It’s about a level playing field… Are the rules for everybody, and will they be enforced evenly?” The municipal election is scheduled for October 17.
