Language educators in Brazil expand reach through franchising and social immersion

In Brazil, educators are utilizing diverse business models and creative methodologies to expand language learning opportunities.

Leonardo Oliveira, a former English teacher, has expanded his operations as a Cultura Inglesa franchisee to include four schools serving over 1,200 students. His network spans the eastern zone of São Paulo, including Itaquera and São Miguel Paulista, as well as Nova Friburgo and Rio Bonito in Rio de Janeiro. Oliveira plans to expand further into the São Paulo capital with two additional locations expected in 2027.

In São José dos Campos, entrepreneur Leandro Villega is focusing on immersive and social learning methods. Through the Mundo Lingo community and the Improv Club project, Villega uses cultural exchange and improvisational theater to improve English fluency. Mundo Lingo facilitates free weekly meetings where participants use flags to indicate the languages they speak, fostering international connections and practical communication skills.
