Langwith Village garden village proposed at former York airfield
A public consultation has launched regarding the development of Langwith Village, a proposed garden village at the former Elvington Airfield near York. The project, led by the Langwith Development Partnership in collaboration with the City of York Council and Homes England, aims to deliver 3,339 homes.
The masterplan for the settlement includes schools, shops, community and leisure facilities, workplaces, and walking and cycling connections. The development follows the site's identification as a strategic housing opportunity in the council's local plan.
Consultation materials will be available online from October 19 until November 30. An in-person event is scheduled for October 20 at the Yorkshire Air Museum. The feedback gathered will inform a design code and the subsequent outline planning application, which is expected to be submitted in December 2026.
