Lani Pallister ends Katie Ledecky’s 13-year 800m freestyle streak

Australian swimmer Lani Pallister ended Katie Ledecky’s 13-year winning streak in the 800m freestyle at the Pan-Pacific Championships. Pallister clocked a time of 8:06.10 to defeat Ledecky, who finished in 8:07.26.

Ledecky’s historic dominance in the event began with her Olympic gold in 2012 and included 13 international gold medals, four Olympic titles, and seven World Championship titles. Her streak spanned from her debut as a 15-year-old to her recent performance in Irvine, California.
