Lani Pallister defeats Katie Ledecky at Pan Pacific Championships

At the Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, California, Australian swimmer Lani Pallister achieved a significant victory by defeating American legend Katie Ledecky in the 800m freestyle. This loss marks Ledecky’s first defeat in the 800m freestyle at a major international meet since 2012. Pallister’s dominant week included gold medals in the 200m, 400m, and 800m freestyle, as well as the 4x200m freestyle relay, and a silver in the 1500m.

In the women’s 200m individual medley, China’s Yu Yiting secured victory with a championship record time of 2:07.45, narrowly edging out Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh, who took silver.
