Lanre Arogundade elected IFEX deputy convenor
Lanre Arogundade, the Executive Director of the International Press Centre (IPC), has been elected as the deputy convenor of the International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX). He was also appointed to the IFEX Governance Committee during the inaugural meeting of the 2026–2029 IFEX Council on August 5.
In his role as deputy convenor, Arogundade will support the council leadership, chair meetings, and assist in implementing council decisions. His membership on the governance committee is intended to help strengthen the network’s strategic oversight and institutional effectiveness.
Other key appointments within the IFEX Council include Layal Bahnam of the Maharat Foundation as convenor and Ruth Kronenburg of Free Press Unlimited as treasurer. IFEX is a global network of over 100 civil society organizations dedicated to advancing free expression, journalists’ rights, and access to information.
