Lanús approves municipal police and emergency system
The Lanús Deliberative Council has approved several new ordinances aimed at enhancing local security and health services. Key among these is the creation of the Municipal Prevention Police, a civil body under the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Urban Planning. This force will consist of up to 100 trained agents tasked with deterrent patrolling, proximity prevention, and initial assistance in high-risk situations. The council clarified that these municipal agents will not replace the Buenos Aires Provincial Police and will not have criminal investigation powers.
Additionally, the council institutionalized the Lanús Emergency System (SEL) to establish a formal organizational structure for emergency medical services. The legislative body also approved an integral program for people with disabilities and social inclusion policies.
In a separate local government initiative, the 'Lanús Tu Gobierno' territorial operation is scheduled to take place in Valentín Alsina. This program provides residents with access to public services, including legal advice, health stations for vaccinations and vital sign monitoring, assistance with disability certificates, and guidance on employment portals and municipal digital tools.
