Lanús Mayor leads emergency preparedness workshop
Lanús Mayor Julián Álvarez led the third Emergency Workshop, titled ‘Lanús se prepara’, held at the Hugo del Carril Auditorium. The event focused on presenting an updated Municipal Integral Risk Management Protocol designed to strengthen local organizational responses to emergencies.
Mayor Álvarez emphasized the necessity of coordinated work between the municipal government and local emergency services, particularly in anticipation of upcoming climate events. To support these efforts, the municipality has invested in improved equipment and training for various personnel, including doctors, firefighters, civil defense, and volunteers.
The workshop included training blocks, simulations of extreme weather responses, and specialized workshops on medical techniques such as ECO FAST and ultrasound in CPR. Previous local measures include the creation of an Emergency Operations Committee (COE), the declaration of sanitary, climatic, and hydric emergencies, and the development of a water risk map to prepare for the El Niño phenomenon.
