Lanterns writers team assembled for potential second season

A writing team has been assembled for a potential second season of the DC series ‘Lanterns’, though HBO has not yet officially renewed the show. Led by showrunner Chris Mundy, the team is currently focused on developing pitch pages and story outlines.

Of the original writing staff, Vanessa Baden Kelly is the only member set to return. She will be joined by Christopher Cantwell, Nakkiah Lui, Zack Whedon, and Selwyn Seyfu Hinds. While co-creators Damon Lindelof and Tom King were involved in the first season, they will not be participating in the direct writing process for the potential continuation.

Despite the lack of a formal renewal, HBO reported that viewership for the first and third episodes of the series was among the network's best. The first season is scheduled to conclude its run on HBO on Sunday, October 4.
