L'Antidote trio performs at Festival Mundus in Correggio
On July 29, the trio L'Antidote took the stage in the courtyard of the Palazzo dei Principi in Correggio, Italy, as part of the Festival Mundus. The ensemble brings together Iranian percussionist Bijan Chemirani, Albanian cellist Redi Hasa and Lebanese pianist‑composer Rami Khalifé. Their program mixes improvisation, electronic textures and acoustic instruments, weaving Mediterranean, Middle‑Eastern and Balkan musical traditions.
Chemirani, known for his mastery of the Persian zarb, has collaborated with artists such as Sting and Jean‑Ghien Queyras. Hasa, a long‑time collaborator of composer Ludovico Einaudi, contributes a lyrical cello voice, while Khalifé blends piano with electronic soundscapes, drawing on his Lebanese heritage. The trio’s performance was described by the artists as a “beauty as remedy” approach, showcasing how music can act as an antidote to contemporary disorder.
