Lantronix and Swarmer Unveil Drone Compute Module with Quadrupled Processing Power
Lantronix Inc. and Swarmer Inc. announced a collaboration to create a custom compute platform for Group 1 unmanned aircraft systems. The solution combines Lantronix’s Open‑Q6490CS system‑on‑module with Swarmer’s combat‑proven autonomy software, delivering roughly four times the onboard processing capability of current drone platforms. Designed for small, low‑cost drones used by the United States, Ukraine and allied forces, the NDAA‑compliant module supports advanced artificial‑intelligence functions such as visual navigation, automated target recognition, pixel lock, sensor fusion and coordinated swarming. By running AI models locally, the platform reduces reliance on cloud connectivity and can be updated via software rather than hardware changes, extending lifecycle and simplifying deployment. Both companies anticipate the technology could be installed in millions of drones projected for production this year, enhancing autonomous mission execution at the tactical edge.
