Lanud Sulaiman conducts river normalization to mitigate West Java floods

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has expressed appreciation for Lanud Sulaiman's involvement in river normalization efforts to mitigate flooding in the Margahayu region and surrounding areas.

Air Force Commander Marsma TNI Eko Sujatmiko stated that the initiative focuses on two main waterways: the Cikungkurak River and the Cikahiyang River. The Cikahiyang River flows through Margahayu, Sayati, and Kopo before entering the Lanud Sulaiman area and eventually emptying into the Citarum River. The Cikungkurak River passes through Sayati, Kopo, and Sukamenak before also reaching the Citarum River.

The normalization process includes increasing the water capacity of these river flows within the Lanud Sulaiman area to reduce flood risks. Governor Mulyadi emphasized that while the primary mission of Lanud Sulaiman is air defense, its active role in environmental management and flood prevention serves as a model for inter-agency cooperation.
