Lanyang Mazu Culture Festival prepares with ceremonial deity grooming

In preparation for the 2026 Lanyang Mazu Culture Festival, a ceremonial ‘makeup ritual’ was held at Lancy Crescent Plaza on September 26. During the event, department store counter assistants performed a traditional grooming ceremony for the Mazu deity statue, which included cleansing the sacred face, applying rouge, adjusting the phoenix crown and robes, and presenting a mirror for the deity to view the completed look.

Acting County Magistrate Lin Mao-sheng attended the ceremony to offer prayers for the peace and prosperity of the Lanyang region. The ritual serves as a warm-up for the upcoming festival, which is scheduled to take place from October 2 to October 4, featuring a series of sea and land processions and blessings.
