Lanzarote authorities advise against hunting with dogs in Haría

The Cabildo de Lanzarote has issued a recommendation for hunters to avoid bringing dogs to the municipality of Haría during the hunting day on Sunday, August 23, following the deaths of several dogs. Authorities suspect the deaths may be linked to poisoning.

Samuel Martín, the Counselor for Hunting and the Environment, stated that the institution has activated the poisoning protocol established in 2014 to combat the illegal use of toxic substances in non-urban areas of the Canary Islands. Environmental agents have been deployed to monitor affected areas, and the Cabildo is requesting cooperation from the Local Police, Civil Guard, SEPRONA, and Game Wardens.

Authorities have advised the public not to handle any suspicious substances, food remains, or baits found in the area. Anyone discovering potential poisoning sites or animals showing signs of intoxication is urged to contact emergency services immediately.
