Lanzarote emergency services respond to maritime rescue and traffic accidents
Emergency services in Lanzarote responded to several incidents over the weekend, including a maritime rescue and two traffic accidents.
In Playa Blanca, a zodiac boat carrying five people—three adults and two minors—was left adrift near Los Charcones due to engine failure. Salvamento Marítimo and firefighters assisted in towing the vessel to Marina Rubicón; all occupants arrived safely without requiring medical attention.
On land, a driver lost control of a vehicle in Puerto del Carmen, striking a lamppost on Rambla Islas Canarias. The impact caused the light fixture to fall onto the sidewalk. The driver was stabilized by the Servicio de Urgencias Canario and transported to the Hospital Universitario Doctor José Molina Orosa.
A third incident occurred at a junction in Arrieta, involving a collision between two vehicles. Local residents have previously requested safety improvements and the construction of a roundabout at this location.
