Lanzarote Film Festival celebrates village life in 16th edition

The 16th edition of the Lanzarote Film Festival is scheduled to take place from November 19 to 29, spanning the seven municipalities of the island. This year's theme focuses on the island's roots by highlighting its villages.

Key programming includes "Mi pueblo, allá cuando yo nací," an initiative designed to recover collective memory by recording testimonies from residents approximately 90 years old to reconstruct historical village life. The festival will also feature specialized workshops in photography and sound led by Goya Award winners Mauro Herce and Eva Valiño.

Local officials, including Cabildo Culture Counselor Jesús Machín Tavío, emphasized the importance of the theme in preserving local identity against urban concentration. The event is supported by Turismo Lanzarote as a tool for cultural and tourism promotion.
