Lanzarote PP criticizes government immigration management
Ángel Vázquez, spokesperson for the Partido Popular in the Lanzarote Cabildo and counselor for Art, Culture, and Tourism, has criticized the central government's management of illegal immigration.
Speaking on the program 'La Noche de Cuesta', Vázquez expressed concern regarding the expansion of migration routes involving Morocco, which positions the Canary Islands as a key point following Ceuta and Melilla. He argued that the central government, led by Pedro Sánchez, has failed to provide necessary resources or effective measures to address the situation in the archipelago.
Vázquez emphasized that the Canary Islands are a limited territory with sensitive resources, noting that the influx of migrants impacts the local economy, which relies almost exclusively on tourism. He called for direct responsibility from the state to protect the livelihoods of Lanzarote residents while also expressing humanitarian concern for those dying at sea.
