Lao Cai authorities advance ethnic minority development and social welfare programs
Lao Cai authorities are advancing several regional development and social welfare initiatives. The Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religion has been reviewing the progress and disbursement of the national target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the 2025-2026 period, while also preparing investment plans for 2026-2030 in areas such as Van Ban, Duong Quy, and Khanh Yen.
In the realm of social welfare and remembrance, the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command is leading a campaign to search for, collect, and identify the remains of martyrs. This includes recent activities in Muong Hum commune to exhume and relocate martyr graves. Additionally, provincial leadership has directed departments to organize safe and meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival activities, with a specific focus on children in remote, border, and ethnic minority areas.
Infrastructure and social issues also remain a priority, with inspections of boarding school construction projects in border regions like Y Ty and A Mu Sung, and workshops held to combat child marriage and consanguineous marriage within the province.
