Lao Cai integrates biodiversity conservation with tourism expansion

Lao Cai is focusing on integrating biodiversity conservation with the expansion of its tourism ecosystem. From October 9 to 15, the Hoang Lien Tourism and Biodiversity Conservation Center organized environmental education conferences in the Ta Van and Ban Ho communes. These areas are core zones of Hoang Lien National Park, where local communities have a direct connection to forest resources.

The workshops aimed to involve village leaders, forest protection members, and local residents in protecting rare and endangered species. By educating the community on forest management laws and prevention measures against illegal hunting and wildlife trafficking, authorities hope to maintain ecosystem stability and water regulation functions.

Parallel to conservation efforts, Lao Cai is developing its tourism infrastructure. As of September 2026, the province reported 2,138 accommodation establishments, including 6 five-star hotels and 740 homestays. The province aims to leverage its natural landscapes and ethnic cultures through green tourism, using homestays to connect tourism activities with local livelihoods and community income.
