Lao Cai launches campaign to accelerate railway land clearance

The Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee has launched a high-intensity 100-day emulation campaign to accelerate land clearance for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project. Running from October 1, 2026, to January 8, 2027, the initiative aims to mobilize political systems and the public to meet critical project milestones.

The province intends to begin handing over portions of the component 2 railway construction site starting in November 2026, with a goal to complete all land clearance by June 30, 2027. A specific target has been set to finish clearing agricultural, forestry, public, and state-managed lands by December 31, 2026.

To support affected residents, the province is prioritizing resettlement efforts. Construction for resettlement areas managed by Bao Ha Commune is scheduled to begin before November 15, 2026, while other areas managed by the Lao Cai Province Construction Investment Project Management Board 1 must start by December 5, 2026. The plan emphasizes administrative reform, digital transformation, and community dialogue to ensure social consensus and stable livelihoods for those displaced.
