Lao Cai police arrest suspect in snatch-and-grab robberies

Lao Cai Provincial Police have arrested Mai Xuan Quynh, a suspect in two recent snatch-and-grab robberies. The arrests occurred within 24 hours of the initial reports being received by authorities.

The incidents took place on September 19, 2026, on Ngo Van So and Lac Long Quan streets in Lao Cai ward. In both cases, two unidentified men on a motorcycle without license plates approached women traveling on the street, snatched their necklaces, and fled the scene.

Following an investigation into local individuals with criminal records, police identified Quynh, born in 1989 and a resident of Ninh Binh province, as a primary suspect. Quynh reportedly has a history of criminal offenses and had been frequently absent from their place of residence. After tracking the suspect to Ninh Binh, the criminal investigation unit successfully apprehended Quynh on September 20, 2026.
