Lao Cai police arrest woman for providing drugs to pregnant individual

Police in Lao Cai province have arrested Doãn Thị Huyền Trang, 39, for allegedly providing synthetic drugs to a pregnant woman. Following drug tests conducted on September 3, 2026, both Trang and Nguyễn Thị Mai, 27, tested positive for methamphetamine.

According to investigations, Trang purchased synthetic drugs in Hanoi and brought them back to Yen Bai ward. On August 26, Trang reportedly gave the remaining drugs to Mai, despite knowing that Mai was pregnant.

Authorities have identified Trang's actions as having signs of “organizing the illegal use of narcotic substances” under the Penal Code. The case has been transferred to the Lao Cai Provincial Police Investigation Agency for further processing.
