Lao Cai targets high-quality investment and green economic growth

Lao Cai is implementing strategic initiatives to attract high-quality investment and transition toward a green, sustainable economy. The province is focusing on synchronized infrastructure development, including transportation networks, industrial land preparation, and urban management reforms to create a competitive environment for investors.

In the Van Phu ward, efforts are underway to improve urban aesthetics, manage road corridors, and ensure traffic safety. Significant progress is being made in land clearance for socio-economic development, with dozens of projects currently in various stages of compensation and resettlement planning to ensure ready-to-use sites for new capital.

Additionally, Lao Cai is leveraging its diverse topography and climate to develop modern, large-scale commodity agriculture and high-tech forestry. With approximately 1.19 million hectares of agricultural land and over 860,000 hectares of forest land, the province aims to build diverse value chains. This includes tropical crops in lowlands and high-value medicinal plants, temperate vegetables, and aquaculture in highland regions, positioning the province as a regional development hub in the Northern Midlands and Mountains.
