Vietnam welcomes Thailand, Laos and Cambodia prime ministers for ASEAN Future Forum

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul of Thailand arrived in Hanoi on 8 June 2026, followed by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone of Laos (7–9 June) and Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia (8–9 June). All three leaders were hosted by Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hưng at the Government Headquarters, where flag‑raising ceremonies and joint receptions were held.

During the visits the three governments signed protocols to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnerships with Vietnam. Thailand’s trade with Vietnam stood at over US$22 billion in 2025, with a target of US$25 billion, while Laos saw Vietnamese investment rise to US$582 million in the first quarter of 2026, and Cambodia’s bilateral trade reached US$11.33 billion in 2025, aiming for US$20 billion. The delegations also attended the third ASEAN Future Forum, discussing regional cooperation on digital transformation, green energy, food security and people‑to‑people ties.

Spouses of the three prime ministers visited the Temple of Literature, underscoring cultural exchange. The visits marked the 50th anniversary of Vietnam‑Thailand diplomatic relations and the upcoming 60th anniversary of Vietnam‑Cambodia ties, reinforcing the ASEAN‑wide push for deeper integration.
