Laos drug seizure: 521kg of methamphetamine found in private jet

Laotian authorities seized 521kg of methamphetamine from a private Learjet at Luang Prabang International Airport on October 1. The aircraft had departed from Subang Airport in Malaysia. Investigations indicate the drugs were intended for the Manila market in the Philippines, rather than Malaysia.

Thirteen individuals were detained in Laos, including a Singaporean pilot, a Malaysian co-pilot, and a Filipino passenger. Among the 13 detainees is a Malaysian citizen who was reportedly not on the flight from Subang. Additionally, Malaysian authorities have detained four individuals, including a 49-year-old Malaysian pilot and aircraft owner, following the incident.

The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has announced an internal probe into the security screenings conducted at Subang Airport prior to the flight's departure. The Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department is leading the ongoing investigation into the cross-border smuggling attempt.
