L’Aquila healthcare services face infrastructure and staffing debates

Healthcare services in L’Aquila are facing scrutiny regarding infrastructure planning and staffing levels. The CGIL union has criticized the decision to locate the new 'Casa di Comunità' within the existing San Salvatore hospital perimeter. Union leaders Francesco Marrelli and Antony Pasqualone argued that this placement contradicts the facility's purpose of decongesting hospitals and providing accessible community-based care, potentially worsening local traffic and parking issues.

Separately, an analysis by the FIALS union regarding ASL 1 Avezzano-Sulmona-L’Aquila shows a positive trend in personnel numbers due to recent hiring and the stabilization of temporary staff. Data indicates a net increase in several categories, including 54 additional nurses, 60 social-health workers (OSS), and 71 other healthcare professionals. While the workforce shows signs of stability, the union continues to call for rapid action to address remaining critical issues and recruitment procedures.
