L'Aquila hospital completes 50 robotic orthopedic surgeries

The Orthopedics Department at San Salvatore Hospital in L'Aquila has completed 50 prosthetic surgeries for hips, knees, and shoulders during the first half of 2026. Under the direction of Professor Giandomenico Logroscino, the facility is utilizing robotic surgery and CT-guided navigation to perform highly personalized procedures.

These technological advancements allow for millimeter-precision and customized planning, which the hospital describes as creating prostheses tailored to each individual patient. The use of robotics, which debuted for knee prostheses one year ago, aims to reduce complication risks and improve patient assistance standards. Due to these specialized capabilities, the center has become a destination for patients from other Italian regions seeking solutions for complex orthopedic issues.
