L'Aquila hosts national summit on EU development funds
L'Aquila and the Abruzzo region are hosting the ‘Forum Leader 2026’ on October 28 and 29, a summit focused on the programming of European Union community funds for the 2028-2034 period. The event brings together over 90 executives, experts, and researchers representing more than 50 Local Action Groups (GAL) from across Italy, ranging from Valle d'Aosta to Calabria and Sicily.
Regional Vice President Emanuele Imprudente highlighted the summit's importance for shaping development strategies, particularly for supporting businesses and youth employment in inland areas. The forum includes participation from central and European technical decision-makers, such as Luigi D’Eramo, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (Masaf).
In a separate discussion regarding regional hospitality, Fabio Raimondo, President of the National Committee of Young Hoteliers, noted Abruzzo’s growing appeal to foreign tourists due to its diverse offerings, including mountains, sea, and gastronomy. To address labor shortages in the tourism sector, the committee is launching a regional school project in collaboration with Unioncamere and ITS to provide specialized training for young professionals.
