L'Aquila hosts the XI International Day of Forgiveness

The XI International Day of Forgiveness took place on October 10, 2026, in L'Aquila, Italy. Held at the Auditorium of the Guardia di Finanza School “Vincenzo Giudice,” the event gathered over four hundred in-person attendees and thousands more via remote connection.

Organized by Lumera ODV in partnership with One Group and L’Aquila Made In, the event was conceived by Daniel Lumera under the theme “Forgiveness Nourishes the World.” The gathering brought together diverse participants, including youth, educators, institutional representatives, and social activists, to explore forgiveness as a universal value and a tool for peace.

L'Aquila, known for its seven-century tradition of Perdonanza Celestiniana, served as the host city. This connection was highlighted by the fact that Pope Francis designated the Abruzzo capital as a “capital of Forgiveness, Reconciliation, and Peace” in August 2022.
