L'Aquila Juvenile Court deliberates on return of three children removed in Lanciano
Judges from the L'Aquila Juvenile Court have reserved their decision regarding an immediate release petition filed by the lawyers of parents whose three children, aged 3, 4, and 7, were removed from their home on September 17.
The children were taken by social workers and law enforcement from a residence in the Iconicella district of Lanciano due to reported hygienic and sanitary issues within the home. The children are currently being held in a family home designated for victims of violence.
Family attorney Angelo Pisani has rejected the allegations, stating that the parents have actively cooperated with social workers and special curators to meet all requirements. Pisani argued that the children have a right to return home and characterized the removal as a “great mistake.” The court is expected to convene on October 1 to review the proceedings and issue a ruling.
