L'Aquila province allocates €4.3 million to upgrade roads in Marsica, Valle Peligna and Alto Sangro
The Province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo announced two contracts totalling about €4.3 million to improve safety and condition of provincial and regional roads.
The first contract, worth €3.1 million, covers consolidation of provincial road SP 89 “Dorsale Palentina” and resurfacing of SR 579 “Palentina” and SP 23 “Alto Liri” in the Marsica area. Works affect the municipalities of Sante Marie, Capistrello, Tagliacozzo, Castellafiume and Cappadocia and include stabilising valley slopes at several kilometre points and renewing deteriorated road surfaces.
The second contract, valued at €1 million and funded by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, targets safety barriers, guard‑rails and minor works on a network of provincial roads in the Valle Peligna and Alto Sangro zones. The programme involves towns such as Campo di Giove, Sulmona, Roccaraso, Pescocostanzo and others, with a planned duration of about 60 days.
Province President Angelo Caruso said the projects aim to secure vital transport links for local communities and support the region’s economic competitiveness.
