Lara authorities arrest two men for theft and abuse in Barquisimeto

Authorities in Lara State, Venezuela, have arrested two men in connection with separate criminal incidents in the Barquisimeto region.

In one case, the Cicpc arrested 37-year-old Jairo Antonio Ramos Jaramillo for motorcycle theft and extortion. Investigators report that Ramos Jaramillo stole a motorcycle in the Iribarren municipality and subsequently demanded $350 from the owner's family to return it. During a controlled delivery operation at the Antonio María Pineda Central Hospital, officers apprehended the suspect and recovered the vehicle, along with a second stolen motorcycle.

In a separate incident, a 38-year-old man was detained by Lara State Police for the alleged sexual abuse of a 79-year-old woman in central Barquisimeto. The suspect also reportedly stole the victim's cell phone and household items. Following an anonymous tip, emergency responders provided medical aid to the victim, who was transported to the Antonio María Pineda Central Hospital. The suspect was apprehended near the El Recreo pedestrian bridge after being identified by neighbors.
