Lara Raj addresses debate over Indian heritage styling at Paris Fashion Week
KATSEYE member Lara Raj has addressed online debate regarding her appearance at Paris Fashion Week. While attending the Loewe Spring/Summer 2027 show, Raj wore a yellow halter dress paired with traditional Indian accessories, including a red mark in her hairline.
The styling sparked discussion on social media, with some users questioning if the mark was sindoor, a symbol often associated with marriage, used as a fashion accessory. Raj clarified that the mark was kumkum, which she described as a ‘sacred blessing’ she has received from her family since childhood during puja and aarti.
Raj stated that the look was inspired by Bollywood actress Rekha and intended to celebrate her heritage. She described kumkum as a symbol of intuition, strength, and divine feminine energy, noting that it has been part of her life since childhood.
