Lara Spencer recalls covering 9/11 attacks while pregnant
Lara Spencer, a host for ‘Good Morning America’, shared her personal reflections on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. At the time of the tragedy, Spencer was working as an ABC News correspondent covering Fashion Week in New York City and was six months pregnant with her first child.
Spencer recounted how the situation shifted from a reported commuter plane accident to a confirmed attack after the second plane struck the World Trade Center. She described the chaos in Manhattan, noting that her crew was unable to move past 23rd Street due to a “sea of people” rushing uptown on foot to escape the towers.
In her social media tribute, Spencer also recalled the emotional scenes of families posting photographs of missing loved ones on signposts and phone booths, desperately seeking information. She stated that she will “never forget” the experience and the heartbreak felt by the families involved.
