Laremy Tunsil expected to miss significant time with torn triceps

Washington Commanders star left tackle Laremy Tunsil is expected to miss a significant portion of the 2026 season after suffering a torn triceps during a training camp practice. The injury occurred during a one-on-one pass-rush drill against defensive end Odafe Oweh. Tunsil, a five-time Pro Bowler who recently signed a two-year, $60.2 million extension, will require surgery to repair the injury. Recovery timelines for such an injury typically range from four to seven months.

The loss of Tunsil creates a critical void in the Commanders' offensive line, particularly regarding the protection of quarterback Jayden Daniels. Head coach Dan Quinn indicated that the team intends to rely on internal options rather than seeking outside help.
